With Mother’s Day fast approaching, there is only one question that every mother is asking herself: “What should I buy myself for Mother’s Day”. Let’s be honest, motherhood is a thankless job so the one day a year that we are able to spoil ourselves a little, we should!
The gifts from a spouse or significant other typically consist of a beautiful bouquet of flowers that last a week if you’re lucky or a meal out, which has no lasting value (except maybe a couple lbs). The homemade gifts from our kiddos are “beautiful” memories that go into a box somewhere and come out the week before their high school graduation as we are drowning ourselves in tears and ice cream.
As mamas, we know that in order to get something we really want for Mother’s Day, we have to take matters into our own hands. It’s so hard for us to admit but we are worth it! This is the one day we get to celebrate the 364 other mother-funning (see what I did there) days. So, treat yourself! Here are some suggestions about what to get yourself for Mother’s Day.
A New Bra – Let me explain. Mamas so often go without the things we need because we are so wrapped up in making sure everyone else has what they need. My son has the newest and best hockey equipment, toys, clothes, etc. Meanwhile, my bras and underwear are faded, outdated and have holes. Nothing can make you feel like a new person like a new bra! Without going all out, give yourself the gift of lift and separation! It’s life-changing!
Book(s) – I can’t remember the last time I read something that wasn’t a CNN breaking news pop-up on my phone or an US Weekly blurb in my news feed. I miss the days when I could pick up a book and lose track of time getting absorbed in a story. This Mother’s Day, I’d love an hour or two of alone time to read. So many of my friends swear by their Kindles but I have never taken the plunge. They happen to be on sale so this Mother’s Day, I might just gift one to myself.
Essential Oils – The gift that keeps on giving! I got into essential oils a few years ago and they have made such a difference in all aspects of my life. When I’m stressed, sick, angry, cleaning, unfocused or just need a pick me up, I reach into my cabinet of oils and grab the best ones. If you have been on the fence about oils, now is the time! Start slow. Grab a diffuser and a couple different oils and try them out. Here is the diffuser that I have and highly recommend!
A Massage – If you don’t have the luxury of going to a spa and taking an hour nap while someone rubs away all of your worries and cares – actually, if you can do that, you should! That sounds amazing. But, if you can’t, the next best thing is this machine right here. It is heaven on earth! Best part about it is you don’t ever have to return it and you can use it over and over again. It’s the gift I gave myself last Mother’s Day and I don’t regret it, not one bit!
If none of these options seem appealing to you, here is a link to Amazon’s suggestions for things to buy yourself for Mother’s Day. Fun fact, I am Amazon’s biggest fan! I use Amazon for literally everything, from monthly shipments of toilet paper to gifts for myself and everything in between. Prime makes it so easy with free two-day shipping. I don’t even have to decide what to get myself until Thursday and it will still be here in time for Mother’s Day. Click the link below to peruse the Mother’s Day shop on Amazon. I guarantee you’ll find a gift for yourself…or two…or three.
So there you have it! The gifts you can get yourself that you know you’ll love this Mother’s Day. Because, in the end, all we really want for Mother’s Day is a couple hours to do something that we want to do for every other day when putting us first comes last.
